“I became a member of the Committee for Sickle Cell Care Manchester as I have a genuine desire to support the ethos of the organisation.
In the main this conditions affects people of African Caribbean heritage, and as such, unfortunately there appears to be limitations on treatment and a lack of knowledge around the condition. I also have family members who have Sickle Cell Anemia so I have a personal interest.
I believe SCCM is providing a crucial service to the Community, and I whole-heartedly give my time and effort to this organisation.”
Our aim is to ensure that people of all ethnicities who are living with this condition are informed about the condition and are aware of the support and services available to them. We wish to highlight some practical measures to help and support people living with the SCD; also to work alongside other charitable bodies and organisations to help improve the lives of people living with the condition as much as possible.
