About Sickle Cell Care Manchester
Your Cares Are Our Cares
Our Sickle Cell Care Manchester (SCCM) charity mission is deeply personal: to provide community support for anyone affected by Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) in Greater Manchester until a cure is found, enabling them to lead full lives.

Who We Are – Sickle Cell Care Manchester Charity
Sickle Cell Care Manchester is a community-led charity dedicated to providing community support for those affected by sickle cell disease (SCD). The charity is managed by a diverse board with lived experience of SCD who are driven by empathy, understanding, and a commitment to building stronger lives—today, and until a cure is found.
Our Mission – Community support for sickle cell disease
- Empower and uplift warriors: We provide emotional and practical support for people living with sickle cell disease, helping them reclaim their lives.
- Raise awareness: Through education and advocacy, we help communities and partners better understand SCD and the support it requires.

What We Do – Sickle Cell Support In Manchester
| Community Advocacy | We make sure people are heard, especially during crises, by offering emotional support and signposting to expert medical care. |
| Education & Outreach | We run presentations, workshops, and campaigns in schools, workplaces, and community hubs. These raise awareness, reduce stigma, and promote inclusion across Greater Manchester. |
| Support Navigation | From healthcare referrals to peer connections, we guide people towards trusted resources and services available through the NHS and beyond |
| Advocacy for Rights | We support people navigating benefits like Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), and advocate for equal treatment in education and employment. |
| Human Connection | SCD can sometimes feel isolating. We combat isolation by connecting people with SCD and carers with compassionate volunteers, encouraging peer support and friendship. |

Get Involved
Sickle Cell Disease needs a community to live with, especially during a pain crisis. People with SCD need acceptance and tolerance to fulfil their potential, but for too long, others have marginalised them. However, with the right support, people with sickle cell can add immense value to society and reach their full potential. SCD does not discriminate, and people living with the disease come from all levels of society. Despite the challenges, they are artists, scientists, business owners, and much, much more.

At Sickle Cell Care Manchester, we support people with sickle cell for as long as they need, so they can become the best version of themselves. To do this, we rely on fundraising, grants, public support and our network of volunteers and donors.
We need your help. People with SCD need understanding and tolerance, and Sickle Cell Care Manchester is committed to working hard so that all people with sickle cell have a chance to live their best life. We cannot fight for this alone. Find out how you can get involved and make a difference.
