Volunteering
Our organisation has a pool of volunteers who go through the DBS check and volunteer training processes for hospital and home visits. These volunteers can help with everything from fundraising activities to giving talks in the community and directing people to statutory bodies. Our volunteers receive compensation for their travel and subsistence.
Volunteering with Sickle Cell Care Manchester is a rewarding experience. By paying them visits at home and in the hospital, you can aid people in managing a crisis better. You will develop a bond with the people you support and significantly impact their lives.
You might be matched with the following volunteer positions:
- Befriending
- Purchasing groceries and prescription medications
- Supporting hospital patients in conversations with medical staff during their severe pain crisis.
- General administration and supporting SCCM staff.
- Helping at activities and events.
