We can use funds raised through fundraising to support more people. Additionally, fundraising efforts contribute to raising awareness in the wider community and among professionals. This increases both understanding and acceptance of the condition. Your fundraising efforts will also support us to sustain community outreach and expand our networks, to support our aim to influence positive changes in healthcare and social systems.
Join us in fundraising for a better future for people with sickle.
Regular blood transfusions are a cornerstone of treatment. Basically, they replace sickled cells with healthy donor red blood cells, which both improves oxygen delivery and alleviates symptoms like fatigue and pain. They also reduce the risk of serious complications. These transfusions are lifesaving for many people, especially children and adults at risk of stroke or those with severe disease. People often need to repeat them frequently throughout their lives.

Volunteers play a key role in fundraising, community outreach, and raising awareness about sickle cell disease. Roles include giving talks and directing people to vital services, as well as helping people with sickle directly, in addition to other roles. SCCM provides training and support. We also provide travel and subsistence costs. Essentially, volunteers are the backbone of SCCM, providing essential support and helping us to reach more people living with sickle cell disease.
