Before You Start: Prepare for Learning
Before beginning Module 1, please complete these three short preparation activities. They are designed to help you connect the course to your real-world practice, reflect on your current understanding of sickle cell disease, and set clear learning goals.

What Do The Words “Sickle Cell” Mean?
Purpose: Capture your starting point before moving onto Module 1.
Task: Write 3–5 sentences or bullet points about what you already know, feel confident about, or feel unsure about. This links directly to the reflection activity.
Connect This Course to Your Practice
Purpose: Help learners relate the course to their own role, team, patients, and setting.
Task: Write 2–4 sentences or bullet points about why sickle cell competence matters in your professional context and how the course may change your practice.
Set Your Realistic Learning Goals
Purpose: Help learners decide what knowledge, skills, or confidence they want to build.
Task: Write 2–3 personal learning goals for the course that are realistic for you to achieve and that will help you achieve knowledge and skills.
